Glucosamine
Glucosamine is the prime substance concerned with the
formation and repair of articular cartilage. Significant
studies have found that glucosamine sulphate has a beneficial
effect, not only in containing the progression of
osteoarthritis, but also in diminishing the pain associated
with the disease.
Here have been many studies on the uses of glucosamine and
it is documented that it is absorbed by the gastrointestinal
tract. It seems that about 26 per cent of the substance
taken in is absorbed and incorporated into plasma
proteins. Some studies show that glucosamine has
properties equal to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory properties,
rendering it a safe intramuscular anti-inflammatory supplement
for osteoarthritis of the knee.
Although glucosamine is found naturally in the body, it has
generally been well received and reported on, as being a
successful supplement to assist with joint function and
repair. There is little doubt that it has been helpful to
many people, in treating common, but frequently serious
conditions, affecting mobility.
It is not easy to decide, on which of the many competing
glucosamine supplements, is best suited to your own
condition. There are significant factors to be considered
including:
The quality of the ingredients.
The daily dosage.
The delivery system.
The cost of the product.
You need to be sure that you derive the maximum possible
benefit. It is now generally accepted that glucosamine is
best taken as a liquid. Quality is always an issue and
you should opt for a high grade quality product. This
will inevitably affect the cost, but it is surely better to
seek a glucosamine supplement from a wholly reliable quality
source.
